Kogi Speaker tasks new APC executives on reconciliation

The Speaker, Kogi House of Assembly, Matthew Kolawole, on Sunday urged newly-elected state executives of the All Progressives Congress to embark on membership drive to reconcile and woo back aggrieved members.
Kolawole made the plea in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Femi Olugbemi in Lokoja.
The speaker advised the new leaders to evolve programmes that would rekindle the hope of members and the public in the party.
He said that the party remained the only platform for the emancipation of the people.
Kolawole said that the party was big enough to accommodate all, adding that the APC remained the only party that could guarantee a better future for the people.
The speaker appealed to all aggrieved members of the party in Kogi and other parts of the country to shun the practice of “extreme politics’’, embrace oneness and unite for the sake of the party and the country.
He advised members, who conducted parallel congresses to have a rethink and come back to the mainstream to address their grievances, rather than embark on actions that would divide the party.
Kolawole congratulated new party executives across the country and charged them to uphold the virtues and qualities that qualified them for the leadership positions.
He also congratulated the new chairman of the party in Kogi, Abdullahi Bello, and other party executives, who emerged at the just-concluded state congress.
According to him, the successful hosting of the event was a sign of peace, unity and rancor-free party in the state.
He said: “The outcome of the peaceful, transparent, free, fair and credible congress has further shown the cohesiveness of the party leadership in the state.’’
Kolawole urged Nigerians to continue to support the APC-led administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to achieve more, saying that the country had really achieved a lot in several areas.
