Kogi governorship poll: Former Deputy Governor emerges Labour Party candidate

A former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Philip Salawu, has emerged as the candidate of the Labour Party for the governorship election scheduled for November 21.
At the party’s governorship primaries held in Lokoja on Tuesday, Salawu defeated his only opponent, Akubor Adegbe, by 89 votes to 39.
The National Vice Chairman of the party, who was also the Returning Officer, Adi Shirsha, commended delegates for their patience and peaceful conduct during the exercise.
Shirsha charged both Salawu and Adegbe to see the contest as a family affair, urging them to work together for the success of the party in the election.
Salawu, in his response, thanked the delegates for the mandate given him to be the standard bearer of the party and promised to use it to unite all members irrespective of their ethnic and religious affiliations.
