Jonathan, Obasanjo in closed doors meeting

President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday held a closed doors meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his Abeokuta, Ogun State home.
Nigerian Tribune learnt that Jonathan went into the closed doors meeting, which lasted more than two hours, with some notable leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Both Jonathan and Obasanjo belong to the PDP.
Details of the meeting could not be ascertained as at press time.
Bit it was learnt this could not be unconnected with a way of finding an end to the war of words between Obasanjo and his “political son”.
Earlier in the day, journalists had besieged the Hilltop residence of Obasanjo to confirm whether or not Jonathan would pay homage to the former president.
The Nigerian Tribune learnt that Jonathan had planned to sleep over in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, to hold a meeting with Obasanjo and some aggrieved members of the party, who were planning to join other political parties as a result of the outcome of the party’s congresses.
All party leaders and ministers, led by Chief Tony Anenih, were at the meeting.
Efforts to verify details of the meeting failed, as the mobile phones of Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, Dr. Doyin Okupe and Dr. Rueben Abati, were switched off.
The meeting ended at about 9.50pm, with President Jonathan leaving Obasanjo’s residence in a convoy of nine vehicles.
Earlier, while addressing supporters at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, the President had promised that he would create two million jobs annually if voted into office in 2015.
He said this became imperative to absorb about 1.8 million graduates being turned out annually by tertiary institutions.
Jonathan said: “Our target is to create two million jobs every year and with this development, we are going to have zero unemployment in the next years.”
