The police on Thursday arraigned a 30-year-old man, Tochukwu Okafor, before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing three Bluetooth speakers valued at N135,000.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, is being tried for conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 9, at No. 7, Simbiat Abiola Way, Computer Village, Ikeja.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant had gone to the shop of the complainant, Omolara Adefemi, on the pretext of buying three Bluetooth speakers at the cost of N45,000 each.
Akeem told the court that the defendant, who had asked the sales girl to follow him to his car for the payment for the goods, zoomed off in his car with the speakers.
The prosecutor said the defendant was apprehended days later by the complainant with the help of passers-by.
The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Bola Osunsanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Osunsanmi adjourned the case until Aug. 30 for mention.
