The organisers of the upcoming International Documentary Festival Amsterdam, the 27th edition, which takes places from November 19 to 30, 2014 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, have released the 2014 selection online.
The programme consists of 298 titles (selected from 3,200 submissions), of which 81 documentaries will have their world premieres during the festival.
The programme includes a total of 62 Dutch productions spread across the various programmes sections.
This year, a special themed programme is dedicated to the role of women in documentary: The Female Gaze.
With the themed programme of Media and Men, IDFA this year also focuses on the way the media works and how opinions are shaped within a democracy.
This year’s top 10 is provided by Heddy Honigmann and a retrospective of her work will be also be screened.
IDFA and EYE will be presenting a special joint themed programme concentrating on hybrid film: Framing Reality.
The festival’s main locations will once again be Patche Tuschinski, Patche de Munt, Eye and de Brakke Grond, but the festival heart is relocating from Rembrandtplein Square to Cafe de Jaren and Cafe Swych on Nieuwe Doelenstraat.
As regular IDFA locations, the Compageniethearter and Arti et Amicitate are close by, the IDFA is now mainly clustered along Amstel River.
The winners of the various competition programmes will be announced on November 28.
