Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, the Governor of Sokoto State, has been declared the winner of Verbatim magazine’s Man-of-the-Year, 2004 award.
News of his nomination was contained in a press statement signed by Tobs Agbaegbu, the Editor-in-Chief of the news magazine published in Abuja by former editors of Newswatch.
Agbaegbu disclosed in the release that Wamakko has been duly informed of his emergence as the winner of the award and he has duly accepted the honour.
Verbatim magazine explained in the release that Governor Wamakko’s nomination was in recognition and appreciation of his numerous people-centered policies, programes and achievements in various sectors of socio-political and economic life in Sokoto State.
Verbatim also explained that Wamakko was found to have towered over and above many others who were also considered for the prestigious award.
The magazine disclosed that Governor Wamakko will be officially crowned Verbatim-Man-of the Year in Sokoto at a glamorous event, details of which will be released later.
