Akwa Ibom State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio last weekend in Dubai, bagged the Middle East – Africa Investment Round Table (MEAFRIC) Award for Good Governance in Arica.
Presenting the award to the Governor, the Executive Secretary of MEAFRIC, Ambassador Victor Walsh described Chief Akpabio’s achievements as outstanding.
He expressed the conviction that “Akwa Ibom State has become a leading example in state and regional development in Africa.”
Receiving the award, Chief Akpabio who was represented by his Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, in company of the Special Adviser, Bureau of Technical Matters, Engr. Etido Inyang, dedicated the award to God and the people of Akwa Ibom who gave him the mandate to lead the State as Governor.
He commended the organizers of the event for creating a platform for the discovery and appreciation of African leaders who have contributed to the growth and development of the continent.
Other recipients of MEAFRIC Awards were Angolan President, Jose Edward Dos Santos; Aliko Dangote, who were honoured with Good Governance and Business Leadership Awards, respectively.
