Glamour as OPU launches 76th chapter in Switzerland

It was glamour, fun fair, thrills and frills as Yoruba sons and daughters converged on Zurich for the inauguration of the 76th chapter of the Oodua Progressive Union in Switzerland on Saturday.
The launch was performed by the Convener of the OPU, Otunba Gani Adams, who was represented by Omo Oba Lanre Adio Sunmonu, the Secretary General of OPU Worldwide.
Among those present at the event where rich Yoruba heritages were showcased were officials of the Nigeria Embassy in Switzerland and prominent Nigerians and nationals of other nations.
Otunba Adams said in his speech at the launch: “As part of our mission in OPU, we are determined to provide every son and daughter of Yoruba race in the Diaspora with the most effective representation in their country of residence and to preserve and promote the historical and cultural heritage of our people.”
Adams said OPU seeks to attract interest in the research into and teaching of Yoruba language to Yoruba sons and daughters in the Diaspora in order to keep them abreast of their history and background.
It is also to work towards ensuring the establishment of true federalism in Nigeria, adding: “In OPU, we are determined to inspire and nurture the undying spirit of love and sharing among Yoruba sons and daughters.”
