New clips from the scene of the death of an African-American, George Floyd, in Minnesota, United States of America, revealed that it was not just one policeman but three policemen that held the victim down.
Initial available footage of the incident in Powderhorn, a neighbourhood south of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota created the impression that it was just Derek Chauvin, a white Minneapolis Police Officer, that had his his knee on the right side of Floyd’s neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds, who killed him.
However, another video and a CCTV footage obtained by CNN showed that two other officers had their knees on other parts of Floyd, but were not captured in the initial video.
The other officers present at the scene of the incident and who have been fired alongside Chauvin were Thomas K. Lane, Tou Thao and J. Alexander Kueng.
Chauvin, who had his knee to Floyd’s neck for two minutes and 53 seconds after the African-American became unresponsive, has been charged with third degree murder.
Protests, which started from Minnesota, with the slogan: “I can’t breathe,” has spread to other parts of the country.
Soldiers had been deployed in Minnesota to stop the protest.
