The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has commiserated with his Edo State counterpart, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, over his convoy’s involvement in an auto accident that resulted in the death of some journalists attached to his office.
Fayemi, in a letter of condolence on Monday in Ado-Ekiti, sympathised with Oshiomhole, urging him not to lose faith in God or be discouraged by the unfortunate accident.
He urged Oshiomhole to remain resolute in his conviction and determination to take Edo State and its people to the next level of development.
Fayemi said though the death of very dutiful officials could be devastating, he urged Oshiomhole to be consoled by the fact that the officials died on active service and in the quest for a better society.
While conveying the condolence of the government and people of Ekiti State to the Edo State governor, Fayemi prayed that God will grant the families of the departed and the governor the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
The letter reads in part: “I received with shock the news of the ghastly motor accident involving the convoy of Your Excellency on Saturday, 28th April 2012 in which some journalists reportedly lost their lives.
“This incident is one too many as it again depicts the general insensitivity of some desperate people to sanctity of human lives in our society. The manner of the incident, according to reports, raises suspicion that it was beyond the ordinary.
“I have the hope that the probe you have rightly directed into the mishap would unravel the mystery and go a long way to checkmate desperate politicians as the race for the forthcoming gubernatorial elections gathers momentum.
“Kindly convey the sympathy of the government and the good people of Ekiti State to your good self, the Edo State Government and the families of the bereaved and wishes of speedy recovery for the injured.”
