Afenifere chieftain and Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, has insisted that the state Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, is looting the state treasury through questionable bank loans and bonds.
Adeyeye said only a kleptomaniac government would list projects it claimed to have completed and commissioned in 2012 as part of projects that it intends to finance with a N5 billion in 2014.”
Adeyeye, who said he was not surprised that the agents of the governor resorted to abusing his person instead of addressing the issues, said: “Ekiti people have seen the difference between people who trade in facts and figures and Fayemi’s government, whose stock in trade is falsehood and character assassination.”
Speaking through the Director General of the Prince Adedayo Adeyeye Movement, Hon. Bisi Kolawole, Adeyeye said it was an indisputable fact that the State Government posted on its website on October 17, 2012: “After 21 years of its dormancy, Ire Burnt Brick industry in Ire-Ekiti, was on Wednesday finally resuscitated and opened for operations. The State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi who performed the official commissioning of the industry, described the revival as a promise kept.”
Adeyeye said photographs of the project commissioning was posted on the website, with “ekitistate.gov.ng/2012/10/21-years-after-ire-burnt-brick-factory-resurrects/” as link and Nigerians are free to open the link.
Adeyeye said: “Isn’t it then fraudulent that the same Fayemi, who commissioned Ire Burnt Bricks Ltd on October 17, 2012, published pictures of the commissioning and also posted its video on YouTube is now saying N966.89 million out of the N5 billion bond will be spent to resuscitate Ire Burnt Bricks Limited?
“Also, it was reported in the newspapers on December 5, 2011 that the State Government awarded 13 road projects at N12 billion. In the report, Ilawe-Igbara Odo-Ibuji road (17km) was awarded at N894,698,043.75 while Ikole-Ijesa Isu-Iluomoba road (23km) was awarded N1,139,155,368.75
“On December 7, 2012, video of commissioning of Ilawe-Igbara Odo-Ibuji road was uploaded on YouTube. It was also posted on Ekiti State Government website the same day, where the road was listed among roads already completed. The Ikole-Ijesa Isu-Iluomoba road was listed among roads at advance stage of completion.
“Now, the simply questions we are asking Fayemi and his men are; is it the same Ilawe-Igbara Odo-Ibuji and Ikole-Ijesa Isu-Iluomoba roads that they said was completed in 2012 that they want to spend N1.9 billion from the N5 billion bond on in 2014?
“Is it the same Ire Burnt Bricks Ltd, Ire-Ekiti that Fayemi commissioned on October 17, 2012 and posted video of the resuscitated industry on YouTube that he wants to spend N966.89 million on in 2014?
“Again, we ask: of what economic benefit is a State Pavilion to the people of Ekiti State that N1.58 billion borrowed fund will be expended on it?
“These are simply questions that Fayemi and his kleptomaniac government must answer and Ekiti people, whose funds they are looting with reackless abandon deserve explanations.”
