Former caretaker chairmen of the 16 council areas and 19 Local Council Development Areas in Ekiti State have gone dragged the state Governor, Ayo Fayose, to court over their removal from office.
Former Governor Kayode Fayemi inaugurated the ex-council officials on August 8.
They were sacked by Fayose on October 17 through an announcement on state radio and television stations.
In the suit marked HAD/100/2014 and filed at an Ado-Ekiti High Court on behalf of the former council bosses led by Gbenga Omole, by their counsel, Ibrahim Olanrewaju, the plaintiffs are claiming that their tenure subsists till February 7 next year.
Defendants in the suit are the Governor (1st), Attorney General ofEkiti State (2nd), Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly (3rd) and the Ekiti State House of Assembly (4th).
They are praying the court to determine among others
. Whether the appointment and the swearing-in of the claimants as caretaker chairmen in the 16 LGAs and 19 LCDAs by the former Governor of Ekiti State in exercise of his power under Local Government Transition Committee (Amendment) Law 2014 of Ekiti State is nit lawful.
. Whether the appointment of the claimants as caretaker chairmen in the 16 LGAs and 19 LCDAs for six months us statutory or not having regards to Section 4 of the Local Government Transition Committee (Amendment) Law 2914 No 7 of Ekiti State.
