Ekiti college teachers begin indefinite strike over three months salaries

Academic activities have been grounded at the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti following a declaration of strike by the lecturers in the institution.
The decision to down tools was reached after a congress by the college lecturers at the institution on Thursday.
The college teachers, acting under the aegis of the College of the Education Academic Staff Union, are protesting the non-payment of August, September and February salaries.
The strike has disrupted many activities at the college, including the orientation of new students who had been granted admission since late last year.
It remained unclear at the time of filing this report at about 7.30pm on Thursday whether other unions in the college would also embark on industrial action.
All workers’ unions at the Ekiti State University had earlier in the week embarked on strike to protest non-payment of January and February salaries.
