After several hours of uncertainty, the delegation of Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt finally departed for Tunis from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on Friday afternoon.
Players and officials slept at the MMIA but would be happy to finally board an Emirates Airline flight to Dubai on Friday to connect a six-hour flight from Dubai to Tunis on Saturday morning.
It means they will arrive in the Tunisian capital with only a few hours to spare before their CAF Confederation Cup first round, first leg tie against Club Africain.
Meanwhile, Enyimba FC’s CAF Champions League opponents, Smouha FC of Egypt, flew into Abuja on Thursday and were accommodated at Sheraton Hotel & Towers.
Chairman of Enyimba FC, Felix Anyansi-Agwu, confirmed to thenff.com that the Egyptians flew into Owerri on Friday afternoon to connect Aba, venue of Sunday’s first round, first leg clash with the two-time African champions.
Renowned South African referee, Daniel Bennett, is the referee for Sunday’s clash, with compatriots Lindikhaya Bolo, Songezo Xalakhe and Tinyiko Victor Hlungwani as assistant referee 1, assistant referee 2 and fourth official respectively.
