Dickson, Alao-Akala, groups laud Akpabio’s emergence as PDPGF chair, BoT membership
The Bayelsa State Governor, Chief Seriake Dickson; a former Oyo State Governor, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala; socio-political groups, Akwa Ibom Progressive Forum; and the Centre for Awareness on Good Governance were among people and groups who have praised the emergence of the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, as the chairman of the newly-created Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum and membership of the party’s Board of Trustees.
Dickson, in a statement, congratulated Akpabio on his selection as the PDPGF, saying it was a testimony to his vision, purposeful leadership and contributions to the growth of the party.
Akpabio was chosen as the chairman of the PDPGF on Sunday, while he was also appointed as a member of the party’s Board of Trustees, developments which have drawn commendations from different quarters.
According to Alao-Akala, it was important for the PDP to have its own governors forum as the members of the party would be free to discuss issues with the governors of the party without interventions from outsiders.
He added: “Akpabio has the pedigree and integrity to lead the PDP governors.
“He is someone that can be trusted.
“In fact, the Nigerian Governors’ Forum should allow him take over the leadership of the forum in May.”
The Akwa Ibom Progressive Forum and CAGG lauded Akpabio’s emergence as the PDP governors’ chairman and BoT member.
It said they were proofs that men of excellence would always have their due recognitions.
In statements signed by the President of AIPROF, Pastor Godspower Umanah, and the President of CAGG, Chief Ben James, they described Akpabio as a visionary and insightful leader, adding that his excellent personality and popularity across the country would be deployed to the benefit of the PDP and the entire country.
AIPROF stated: “We are not surprised that our visionary governor has been called upon to steer the ship of the newly-formed PDP governors’ forum, a golden fish has no hiding place.
“And we are quite confident that the party would benefit immensely from Akpabio’s wealth of experience in both his capacities as governors’ forum’s chairman and member of the party’s BoT.”
