Deposed NPL boss, Baribote, faces life ban

If the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation keeps to its rules and regulations, the erstwhile Chairman of the Nigeria Premier League, Rumson Victor Baribote, stands the risk of a life ban from football activities.
Competent sources at the Glass House informed The Eagle Online that the NFF will soon ban the former Chairman of Bayelsa United if it is confirmed that he has gone to court to seek redress following his impeachment.
The source said: “It is a known fact that NFF does not joke with such issue.
“Every member of football fraternity knows that taking football matter to court is forbidden and the penalty is life ban.”
Baribote had reportedly gone to Abuja High Court to challenge his sack by the Congress of the NPL.
An affidavit sworn to and deposed in an Abuja Federal High Court is showing he is in court but needs to tidy up some ends before the matter will be attended to.
Davidson Owumi, Baribote’s predecessor, was slammed with a life ban by NFF for taking football matters to court.
Owumi, however, is still in court challenging the entire process.
The congress had accused Baribote’s Board of misappropriation of fund, lack of transparency and accountability, which the clubs owners claimed was responsible for the inability of Nigeria’s top flight league to attract sponsorship for the past two seasons.
