The Governor of Taraba State, Danbaba Suntai, who was involved in a plane crash on Thursday, has been moved to the National Hospital in Abuja from the Specialist Hospital, Yola, Adamawa State, where he has been undergoing medical treatment.
Suntai’s movement was carried out by the State House just as President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan said the governor was in stable condition.
Suntai was brought into the National Hospital by an ambulance in the State House Medical Centre fleet.
The ambulance, with number plate SH 576, arrived at the National Hospital at about 2pm amid tight security.
Jonathan was among those who visited Suntai shortly after he arrived at the hospital on life support.
Jonathan said of Suntai’s condition: “First, I have to thank God for what happened.
“A plane crash is not something that you can just wave off.
“We are quite happy that the governor is stable.
“I have seen him and I think the doctors are working very hard on him.
“I believe that God willing, he will be well soon.”
There were indications on Friday that the injured governor would be moved to a German hospital for further medical attention.
It was learnt it was the opinion of the medical team treating him that he should be flown abroad.
