Suspected burglars on Tuesday night stormed the office of the Chief Executive Officer of Crime Victims Foundation, Mrs. Gloria Egbuji, where they stole documents and other valuables.
It was gathered that the burglars gained entry into the office at 20, Lanre Awoyukun Street, Gbagada Phase 2, Lagos, with dangerous weapons as they destroyed the roof and ceiling of Egbuji’s office.
The suspected robbers were said to have ransacked the office where they allegedly carted unidentified documents belonging to Egbuji.
No other office was burgled in the building.
The case was reported at the Bariga Police Station.
A clerical officer in charge of the locking and opening the office was arrested in connection with the burglary.
It was also gathered that the burglars did not remove any property from the office other than her personal and official documents as they allegedly destroyed all the lockers and wardrobes in the office.
At the end of the ransacking of the office, the burglars made away with unidentified files while they littered the floor with papers, stationery and water.
It can be recalled that Godson Egbuji, the husband of Egbuji, who is a former Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, is being investigated for alleged fraud in the agency’s handling of fuel subsidy last year.
