The Court of Appeal has affirmed that the Adamawa State Governor, Alhaji Murtala Nyako, remains the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the last Adamawa State governorship election, arising from his emergence at the party’s primaries.
The court, sitting in Yola, Adamawa State, thus threw out the petition of Dr. Umar Ardo, who also sought for the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, the platform on which Nyako stood for the election.
While Ardo bought the form of the PDP for the election, the party stopped him from partaking in the primaries.
He went to court to seek for the enforcement of his fundamental human rights, which he said had been trampled upon.
But the Court of Appeal on Wednesday said since Ardo did not partake in the primaries, he could not be declared the candidate of the PDP.
Ardo has made known his intention to seek the intervention of the Supreme Court.
