Ronny Deila has told Efe Ambrose he must concentrate for 90 minutes after his blunder cost Celtic a win over Fenerbahce.
The Parkhead boss cut a frustrated figure after his side were held by the Turkish giants in Glasgow’s East End.
Celtic were 2-0 up and soaring to a crucial Group A win before Ambrose made a huge mistake on the stroke of half-time to hand their opponents an unlikely lifeline.
The Nigerian was left in despair after Fenerbahce capitalised after the interval to grab a 2-2 draw and his boss admitted the defender needs to cut out the sloppy moments.
Deila said: “If you see the overall performance when you are defending you need to keep concentration for 90 minutes. That’s the biggest challenge Efe has.
“For 88 minutes he plays very good then sometimes he has easy mistakes. This game was one of them and, as a defender, you need to keep concentrated for 90 minutes.
“We played well in the first half to get 2-0 up and it was important to keep that lead until the break.
“I thought then we’d have a very good chance in the second half but we conceded an easy goal and that gave them energy and put us on the back foot.”
Leigh Griffiths and Kris Commons had struck to put Celtic in control before the Ambrose nightmare.
