Breaking: Senate makes u-turn on confirmation of presidential nominees

The Senate on Tuesday made a u-turn on the confirmation of nominees by President Muhammadu Buhari.
This followed a point of order raised by Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, who sought a revisit of the position of the Senate.
The Senate had last year resolved not to confirm nominees of the Presidency until its decision that the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, be removed from office based on his non-confirmation by the Red Chamber.
In raising the point of order, Ibrahim said the need to revisit the position has become expedient for the confirmation of nominees for the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Those nominees for the MPC are Aisha Ahmad, Adeola Adenikinju, Aliyu Sanusi, Robert Asogwa and Asheikh Maidugu.
The Board of the CBN has been unable to meet because it does not have the required number to do so.
