Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has promised all aspirants and electorate that the forthcoming local government elections in the state will be free, fair and transparent.
The governor assured that his administration will provide a level playing ground for all political parties participating in the forthcoming local government election.
The local government election is scheduled to be held on October 5, 2024, with participation from no fewer than eight political parties.
Alia gave the assurance while speaking during the flag-off of the All Progressive Congress election campaign held in Gboko on Wednesday.
Represented by his deputy, Sam Ode, the governor urged party supporters to work hard and ensure that the APC candidates won all the positions in the coming polls.

“His Excellency, Hyacinth Alia is determined to ensure that the coming election is free and fair, hence, he has promised to provide a level playing ground for all the political parties,” he said.
Ode, therefore, handed over the party flags to the 23 APC chairmanship candidates and their deputies with a charge to work for their people,
In his welcome address, the APC caretaker committee chairman, Benjamin Omale, said the committee had played a vital role in addressing the concerns of aggrieved aspirants, ensuring that every voice was heard and valued.
According to him, the committee’s efforts have been instrumental in fostering unity and understanding within the party.
Omale said the state APC administration was committed to delivering their campaign promises.
He urged party supporters to come out en masse on October 5 and vote for all candidates of the APC for better service delivery and for the general good of the people.
Also, Omale commended President Bola Tinubu, the National Chairman of APC and the working committee for their support in bringing peace to Benue APC and forming the unity caretaker committee.
