The Chairman of the Egalitarian Mission, Africa and Principal Partner of Castle of Law in Abuja, Olukayode Ajulo, has condemned the violence that attended the governorship election in Bayelsa State.
Ajulo, in a statement, also called for the prosecution of the perpetrators of the violence.
No fewer than 14 persons were reported killed in the violence that attended the governorship election, which the incumbent, Hon. Seriake Dickson, won.
Ajulo said in a statement late on Sunday: “Election in Bayelsa State is concluded with the declaration of Gov. Seriake Dickson as the Governor-elect, while congratulating the winner of the poll for the well deserved victory, I will however point out that the unfortunate highlight of the election was the predominance of violence.
“The perpetrators of the violence in Bayelsa State election must be brought to book.
“Election in Bayelsa State witnessed unprecedented arms struggles and civil strifes.
“The State’s apparatus and law must be used to ensure that the perpetrators of this despicable acts are dealt with to deter would be aggressors in other elections in other states.”
