Activities marking the third year anniversary of Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State in office on Wednesday witnessed some prominent Nigerians mobilising support for the governor.
At a rally held at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti, Fayemi’s administration was commended for its achievements in three years.
Present at the rally were eminent lawyer, Chief Afe Babalola; former Ekiti State Governor, Otunba Niyi Adebayo; the Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole; and the Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
Some of the leaders present, who also included senators and House of Representatives members from the state, poured encomiums on the governor, whom they said had transformed Ekiti.
In a speech on the occasion, Fayemi pledged to work harder in the remaining one year, in a manner that every Ekiti resident would feel the impact of the administration.
He appealed to opposition parties as well as disgruntled members of the APC, his party, to “sheath their swords” and team up with him to achieve his goals for the state.
He said: “There is more to be delivered under my administration but all of these can only be achieved under a peaceful atmosphere.
“As far as I am concerned, I have sworn not to be distracted but remain focused.”
Fayemi was sworn-in on October 16, 2010, following an Appeal Court judgement in Ilorin, which directed former Governor Segun Oni of the Peoples Democratic Party to vacate office.
