The Association of Persons with Spinal Cord Injury in Osun State has suspended its Chairman, Adeleye Olayemi Lucky, over alleged misappropriation of its funds.
The Association announced the decision following their meeting on Wednesday at its hall located at Edun-Aban in Osogbo.
Members accused Adeleye of perpetrating forgery by withdrawing money from the association’s account in a fraudulent manner using the signature of a late member.
They also said the Chairman was deceitful, intimidating and threatening the lives of members of the association.
Adeleye confessed that he used the signature of a late member of the association to withdraw money from bank after his demise.
He explained that he did so because the process of changing the signatory to the account could not be completed due to inability to get the death certificate of the late member.
He however denied the allegations of intimidation and threat to life levelled against him by members.
One of the members of the association, Adebisi Yusuff Adekola, moved the motion for the suspension of the Chairman.
It was seconded by another member, Olanrewaju Olakusibe.
The entire members of the association thereafter passed a vote of no confidence in Adeleye and ratified his suspension.
At the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the association was appointed as Chairman on acting capacity, while Adekola was selected as the acting Vice Chairman until further notice.
In his acceptance speech, the acting Chairman called on members of the association to cooperate and work together.
He promised to ensure accountability and ensure welfare of all members.
