There was pandemonium at Oke-Afa area of Isolo, Lagos State after a mother of three was killed by some unknown assailants in her residence on Monday afternoon.
The victim, who was identified simply as Martha, had her throat slit in her residence at 45, Salau Aliu Street, Isolo.
Nobody knew Martha has been murdered until her kids returned from school to find her corpse.
Her throat had been slit.
Some residents said they saw Martha that morning, taking her kids to school.
The husband of the deceased was said to have left home around 10:30am for a business meeting at the Mile 2 area of the metropolis.
It was also gathered that the deceased told her husband she would like to relax at home for a while before heading to the Trade Fair Complex to stock her shop with Christmas wares.
It was gathered that Martha was resting upstairs when the suspected assailants sneaked into the three storey building and murdered her.
A resident said: “Unfortunately, when the three children who had gone to school in the morning came back, they rushed upstairs, eager to meet their mother.
“The elder among them, identified simply as Ada, saw blood stain of the staircase, followed the trail and saw her mother dead.”
It was also learnt that immediately Ada saw the corpse, she raised the alarm.
This attracted the attention of the residents who rushed to the house.
Another eyewitness, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said he was inside his house when he heard people shouting outside.
He said: “I saw people gathered outside, shouting: blood, blood.
“Most of them were women and they were crying.
“That was how I came down.
I went straight into the compound and pool of blood on the ground.
“Immediately, I and some youths who were at home at that time took the children away from the house.
“We kept them with some residents in the area until their father was called on the phone.
“He was briefed about development.”
He also said that when the deceased husband came, he said that he had had been trying severally to reach his wife on phone.
Another resident who also craved anonymity said the death of the woman was painful and strange.
The resident said: “I was in my shop, close to their house, when I saw her taking her children to school that Monday morning.
“I didn’t even know when she returned from the school.
“I later saw her daughter shouting blood.
“That was how everybody left what they were doing and followed the little girl into their staircase.
“The people who carried out the operation must have been on the trail of the woman for long.
“When you look at our street here in the afternoon, you’ll think you’re in the Government Reservation Area where everybody minded their businesses.”
She urged the landlords association in the area to mandate any other person who wanted to build house on the street to build shops at the front of their houses as this would attract more people to the area.
