Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the death of the Walin Sokoto, Ambassador Hamzat Ahmadu, has robbed Nigeria of one its greatest administrators and diplomats.
abubakar, in a condolence message released by his media office in Abuja on Monday, said the former Ambassador to the United States, France, Germany and the Soviet Union “is incontestably one of Nigeria’s most distinguished and vastly experienced diplomats that ever served the country”.
The former Vice President also recalled Hamzat’s distinguished service record as Personal Secretary to two former Military Rulers – General Aguiyi Ironsi and General Yakubu Gowon – adding that his shining administrative career was enviable and impressive.
The Turaki Adamawa also noted that despite his pedigree, the late diplomat demonstrated incredible humility in his conducts, disposition and interactions with all people, high and low.
He said these virtues are rare among great achievers.
Abubakar extended his condolences to the government, the family and the people of Sokoto State over the demise of their remarkable and distinguished son.
