Activist engages Senior Advocates, 24 lawyers over indiscriminate charges by banks

Patrick Eholor, a Human Rights Activist, has engaged the services of three Senior Advocates of Nigeria and 24 lawyers, to sue banks in the country for what he alleged to be “indiscriminate charges”.
Eholor, who disclosed this to newsmen in Benin on Wednesday, alleged that the banks charge “excessively and irresponsibly”.
He said having observed the failure of the bank’s regulating body to address this anomaly; he took it upon himself to challenge the action of the banks.
According to him, the banks have been a problem and have undermined our patience, the same way “the government abused Nigerians’ mentality”.
He said: “They charge excessively and irresponsibly; this does not happen in a civilised societies. They introduce all sorts of charges, which they never told us when opening the accounts.
“İ am not speaking for myself alone but for all those who do not have the voice.
“They rip us off in the name of charges just the same way they also rip us off with high interest rates, if at all they deem it fit to give us loans.
“This is going to be the mother of all litigation; i have engaged the services of three SANs and 24 lawyers to handle this.”
