Absolut Open Canvas transforms Lagos

Absolut Open Canvas, a commitment to promoting and supporting creativity and art, which kicked off few days ago in the city of Lagos, is still rocking the mega city following the massive turnout of people across the four centres in Lagos to have a glimpse of the artistic prowess of several artists.
Absolut brand, in its fourth day, showcased creativity in the selected parts of Lagos: Shoprite, Ikeja; Yaba Waterfront; Tinubu Square; and Festac.
It offered regular people such a delightful opportunity of seeing artists working together and turned the Open Canvas to a tableau of memorable artistic experience.
It is significant to note that while other brands find ready vehicles of projection in music, football and movies, Absolut has chosen to be true to its DNA as a brand that looks the other way by choosing the path of obvious divergence art as platform for connecting with its consumers.
This is also evident in the Absolut Glow party, a unique highly rated and still talked about event that took the entertainment community by surprise in October when Absolut put the art in the party.
Speaking on the fascination of Absolut for creativity and art, the Brand Manager of Absolut Vodka, Akintayo Akinseloyin, affirms: “We have a rich history of supplementary renowned artist, art writers and institutions as they strive to produce creative works,express what is inside and bond with others.”
“Absolut in itself as a brand is a masterpiece work of art from the unique bottle, engraved labeling and the unique process in the production of Absolut from one source of spring water only in us.”
One of the contending artists, Abdul Rakeem Abdul Raheem, at the Shoprite, Ikeja centre said the competition is all about creativity, inspiration, expression and entertainment..
Abdul Raheem added: “We are trying to see how we can express ourselves in visual art and doing it in a way we can bring people together and see what we can do as an artist.
“All is about Absolut Vodka.”
Another artist, Abeebi Akinkunmi Amobi, also said: “I’m delighted to be part of this.
“It’s indeed to create memorable artistic milestones for we the artists, the general public and to transform Lagos State.”
What added fun and more life into the competition was the presence of the Lagos art community.
Those present included Kelechi Amadi-Obi, Denrele Edun, Ibe Ananaba and Media Mix.
They gave directions and support to the artists.
The event, which ends on the last day of 2013, will give room for all the artists to still express themselves and entertain people during the festive period.
