Dangote to employ 15 professors for Kano university

Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has promised to secure the services of 15 professors for the Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil in Kano State.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Shehu Musa, told newsmen ahead of the institution’s 15th anniversary that Dangote, who is the Chancellor of the university, had already given the authorities of the institution the go-ahead to employ the professors.
“Dangote will pay the professors in addition to providing 15 housing units for them in the university,” Musa said.
He said the business mogul and Chairman of Dangote Group of Companies had promised to support the university with an industrial borehole to boost potable water supply.
Musa also said Dangote recently supported the university with N100 million to address some of the challenges militating against its smooth operations.
The vice-chancellor said the National Communication Commission had donated 400 computer sets to the university to enhance its ICT programme.
He commended other well-to-do individuals in the state for their continuous support to the university.
He commended the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, and Sheik Isiyaka Rabi’u for their continuous moral and financial support to the university.
The institution, which began academic activities in 2001 with 85 students, now has more than 15,000 students in various degree programmes.
