APC senators condemn invasion of National Assembly by policemen

Senators elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday condemned the invasion of National Assembly by policemen.

They described the situation as unfortunate.

The Minority Leader of Senate, Senator Gorge Akume, said the action of policemen was illegal and criminally inclined.

Akume lamented: “How can a government that finds it difficult to combat insurgency now move arms into National Assembly premises?”

Akume said Nigerians will resist any attempt to rig next year’s elections as he also called on the international community to pay attention to the forthcoming polls in Nigeria.

According to him: “We were shocked by what transpired at the National Assembly today.

“The actions of the policemen were illegal and criminally inclined.”

Also condemning the incident, Senator Olushola Adeyeye said it clearly shows that Nigeria is in serious mess driven by the Peoples Democratic Party power mongering.

Adeyeye said: “Going by what happened today, it is crystal clear that Nigeria is in a big mess and not just in crises.

“In fact, if not for the dexterity of people like the Senate President, David Mark, in managing the crises all along, the mess would have been bigger than this.”
