The Manager of a Fidelity Bank branch in Bauchi metropolis, Ahmed Yaya, on Thursday temporarily vacated his seat for a nine-year-old pupil, Halima Ali.
The Head Teacher of High Tech School in Bauchi, Malam Adamu Abubakar, confirmed the development on Thursday.
He said the incident happened when Ali, along with other pupils of the school, were on an excursion tour of the bank.
Abubakar said the pupils were taken to the bank to acquire first-hand knowledge on the use of Automated Teller Machines and other banking operations.
He said it was only the little Al, a Primary 3 pupil, who indicated interest in becoming a banker when asked who among the pupils would like to become one.
He said: “The pupils went on an excursion to the bank within Bauchi metropolis and the bank officials asked who would want to become a banker.
“Only Halima Ali from Primary 3 raised her hand and the bank manager, Mr. Ahmed Yaya, vacated his seat and position for her for one minute.
“This was done as a respect for her ambition as well as to encourage her more in her quest to become a banker.”
The Head Teacher also said that when asked why she wanted to become a banker, Ali explained that becoming a banker was her dream, with the view to supporting humanity through the financial sector.
Abubakar further explained that the visit was an interactive session with bank officials, adding that it was for pupils in the primary section to acquire information on national issues and current affairs.
