BBA: 28 housemates speak on ambition to win $300,000 grand prize
The Chase is on. And more than 50 African countries have stayed glued to their television sets as the event unfolds. The First Big Brother Africa was started in 2003 and 10 years later, the popular show still has the power to hold Africa spellbound.
The Eagle Online, x-rays the 28 housemates and their ambition after winning the grand prize.
Pokello – Zimbabwe
Harare-born Pokello has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Media and Communications. She owns a luxury shoe boutique. She enjoys pasta spaghetti bolognaise and prawn cocktail. Pokello describes herself as dynamic, captivating, intelligent, beautiful and hilarious. And she says that the best about her is that she is head strong and a woman of real substance. Pokello says if she wins the grand prize, she would buy a big house for her son and herself, enrol her son to a full time soccer academy in London and invest in her business.
LK4 – Uganda
Towering over the rest of the housemates at 6ft 5 inches, LK4 is a professional basketball player. LK4 is from Kampala, Uganda. Outside his achievements on the basket ball court, LK4 also has a CPA and a Degree in Marketing. LK4 was inspired to enter Big Brother Africa by his teammates and friends. He says he’s excited to have Africa watching him. LK4 added that viewers can expect him to make all the ladies fall in love with him. He says if he wins Big Brother Africa’s prize, he will start building his basketball academy. He describes himself as compassionate, sexy, conscious, comical and athletic.
Selly – Ghana
Selly is an actress from Tema in Accra, Ghana. Selly entered Big Brother Africa because of the mouth watering prize package that she says would change her life. And also because she wants more drama in her life, to spice it up the more. She says if she wins, she will further her education, buy her mom a car, throw a huge party, start her dream business, renovate her mother’s house and buy herself a car.
Bassey – Sierra Leone
Student, actor and model, Bassey is from Freetown in Sierria Leone. Bassey entered Big Brother Africa for the fame and money and believing it will bring the big changes in life. He says it will be weird having so many people watching his every moves on television. Bassey says if he wins the $300,000, he will buy a house for his family, his dream car, invest in business and produce a movie.
Dellish – Namibia
Windhoek-born Dellish is a third year Psychology student with a passion for seafood. Dellish describes herself as caring, funny, troublesome, loving and adventurous. Dellish says her best quality is the fact that she’s very real and straightforward. She entered the Big Brother Africa because she has been a fan of the show for some time and promised herself that she would enter as soon as she was old enough.
Angelo Collins – South Africa
Dance teacher, Angelo Collins, entered Big Brother Africa because he realized that life is too short and one shouldn’t limit things one ought to do. Angelo says if he wins, he will start a small business, help an orphanage and help his mom and family with a better life. The oldest housemate describes himself as tall, dark, adventurous and handsome. He attributes his confidence to being relaxed and comfortable in his own skin.
Fatima – Malawi
TV presenter and MC Fatima is from Lilongwe, Malawi. She enjoys seafood. Fatima describes herself as unique, caring, nurturing, funny, loud and makes friends very easily. Fatima is looking forward to the exposure offered by Big Brother Africa and believes that appearing on the show will be an important stepping stone in her TV presenting career.
Nando – Tanzania
Student Nando says he has never watched Big Brother Africa before and says it feels normal that the continent will be watching him live on daily basis. He says his friends encouraged him to enter. Nando says if he wins the grand prize, he will build an empire. Aside from the cash, Nando says he wouldn’t mind picking up a few endorsement on the back of his appearance on the show. He described himself as young, ambitious and fun loving.
Huddah – Kenya
Huddah is a model with a Diploma in Programming. She loves Chinese food, Ugali and fish. Huddah’s favorite place in Kenya is Mombasa. Huddah says the best thing about Africa is the diversified cultures and natural resources. She says having Africa’s eyes on her 24/7 will make her feel like a star because she loves the attention. Huddah says if she wins the US Dollars, she will double the money, expand her brand and build a business empire.
Bimp – Ethiopia
Bimp is from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Bimp sees himself as honest, loyal, dependable and responsible. He says his family are excited to see him on TV. Bimp says if he wins the big prize, he would like to open a club or bar in Addis Ababa and triple the money. He says the best thing about Africa is the people, whom he describes as friendly, funny, welcoming and loving.
Motanma – Botswana
Scientific researcher and student, Motanma has B.Sc in Agriculture. Motanma says it feels great that Africa’s eyes will be on her on daily basis. She said she has not watched the previous Big Brother Africa show but her friends and colleagues have always kept her up to date.
Neyll – Angola
Neyll describes himself as funny, entertaining, unforgettable, intense and unique. Neyll has a daughter but is single. Neyll says he entered the show because “I know how to play the game.” He says viewers can expect surprises from him and will get the chance to see the real Neyll. He says if he wins, he will give some money to charity and help his family.
Beverly – Nigeria
Beverly Osu is a model from Lagos, Nigeria. Osu describes herself as smart, humble, loyal and crazy. One of her favourite qualities is her sense of humour. Osu says that viewers can expect a total package of African young diva to command the right qualities and characters of a blunt sexy go-getter. Asked who has influenced her life the most, she says: “Who I want to influence all depends on the situation at hand.”
Sulu – Zambia
Businessman Sulu is single and comes from Lusaka, Zambia. Sulu describes himself as a guy that loves people. Sulu says has the required traits and character and enjoys the company of others. He came to the show because there is a lot to learn about others and promises viewers lots of fun and life changing lessons. Sulu says the best thing about Africa is the potential for development. He added that his favorite place in Zambia is Living Stone. Outside his country home, it is the United States of America.
Cleo – Zambia
Cleo is an artist and musician from Lusaka, Zambia. She is single with a daughter. She is currently looking forward to further her studies. Cleo entered the show because it is something she has always seen herself doing. “I have been trying to enter the show since I was 21,” she said.
She said it looks like a lot of fun but it is also clear to her that only the strong personalities and characters go far in the show. Cleo describes herself as friendly, caring, blunt and loyal.
O’Neal – Botswana
O’Neal is a radio personality and TV host. O’ Neal describes himself as funny, imaginative, entertaining, shocking and unforgettable. He values consideration in others and thinks his best quality is his imagination. He dislikes dishonesty and declares himself as an entertainer at heart. O’Neal has a younger brother and says it will be a privilege to have Africa’s eyes on him 24/7, but acknowledges how tough it will probably be. He says if he wins that prize, he will build his mom a dream house.
Maria – Namibia
Radio presenter and model, Maria, is single. Maria has a Diploma in Public Relations. Maria is from Ondagwa in Namabia. She entered the show with the hope of getting the exposure, which will boost her broadcasting career. Maria promises viewers a lot of blonde moments. She promised to be real as well. Maria says if she wins the grand prize, she will buy a new car and pay off her house and probably give the rest to the charity.
Melvin – Nigeria
Melvin is a model and actor from Delta State, Nigeria. Melvin says the best things about the continent as a whole are the cultures and the people. Outside Nigeria, he enjoys spending time in South Africa and the United States of America because the places are good for relaxation and relate with people conviniently. Melvin said he was inspired by friends. He says: “I’ve always been a fan of the show and have previously come out tops in other reality shows.” Melvin is hoping to use all his experiences and charm to go all the way on Big Brother Africa. He says if he wins, he will invest it, but he is also hoping to make his country proud and use this experience as a platform to achieve other things in his career.
Natasha – Malawi
Self-employed Natasha hails from Lilongwe, Malawi. Natasha entered Big Brother Africa because she looks at it as being social, educational, entertaining and a platform for fame. She describes herself as fun, adventurous, flirtatious, crazy and sweet. Natasha claimed that she is calm, patient and tolerant. She believes that best thing about Africa is its unity, peace and the friendliness of its cultures.
Biguseas – Angola
Biguseas is from Luanda in Angola. He describes himself as handsome, intelligent, extroverted, playful and talkative. Biguseas values sincerity in others. He says if he wins, he will share some of the money with his family and buy a house. Biguseas is also excited by the prospects of fame, as he has always wanted to be a TV Presenter.
Feza – Tanzania
A recording artist, Feza is from Arusha in Tanzania. She has a certificate in Information Technology. A fan of French fries and Ugali na Maziwa. Feza loves the show because people always do well after appearing on the show. She says it’s something vital for her career. Feza says if she wins the $300,000, she will invest some, take her son to Disneyland and possibly buy a house. She describes herself as funny, bubbly, loyal, kind and strong.
Elkem – Ghana
Tailor and actor, Elkem is single and hails from Accra, Ghana. Elkem entered Big Brother Africa for three things: the money, the exposure and the game play. He says that it is great that Africa will be watching him live on daily basis. And he would be chanced to show the continent, who he is and what he can do to promote himself as a tailor and an actor. Elkem has grand plans for the big prize. He says he would host a fashion fund raiser, open three retail stores in Accra, three more abroad as well as shoot a star studded movie before putting what is left into investments and bonds.
Betty – Ethiopia
Betty is a translator and a teacher from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Betty describes herself as brave, confident, committed and able to make the right decision at the right time. Betty entered the show because she has always wanted to be a part of it. She is inspired by every crazy thing in the show. Betty says that having Africa’s eyes glued to the show will make her like a princess. She says if she wins the grand prize, she will open a travel agency in Ethiopia.
Bolt – Sierra Leone
Freetown-born Bolt is a business man with a Diploma in Computer science. Bolt loves Africa because its natural nature and says his favourite place outside his home country is the United States of America. He said he loves the USA because it is a land full of opportunities. Bolt will enjoy having the continent’s eyes on him. He said it would make him feel like he’s ruling the world.
Annabel – Kenya
Annabel is still a student cum fashion designer. Annabel says she loves attention and happy that Africa’s eyes is on her on her daily activities in the house. Annabel said she is happy that she is on the show as her family will be telling everyone they are related to her.
Denzel – Uganda
Denzel is a radio and TV show host in Kampala, Uganda. Asked to describe himself in five words, he says his best quality is his optimism and he likes a great sense of style and humour and open-mindedness in others. Denzel entered the show for the money, fame and adventure and could be careless that Africa is watching closely.
Kokesto – South Africa
Johannesburg-born Kokesto is an entrepreneur currently studying towards a Law Degree. She enjoys eating most African dishes, but to watch her weight she eats Thai for indulgence. She entered the show because of new found fearlessness. She says: “I’m not afraid to take risks and live my life for me.” Kokesto added: “I wanted to see how far I can take this. I needed a new challenges.” She said she wanted something to help build her brand she can capitalize on. Kokesto says if she wins the money, she will start her foundation for young girls in her township and explore investment opportunities in other Africa countries.
Hakeem – Zimbabwe
Hakeem is a model from Zimbabwe. Hakeem entered the show because he is a huge fan of Big Brother Africa and passionate about the experience. Hakeem says he likes the idea of taking simple and exceptionally talented people like him and thrusting them into stardom. He says the best things about Africa are the people, the culture, the resources and the history,which is so rich, authentic and intriguing. Hakeem says if he wins, he will invest in property, pay tithes, go to college, take care of his son and own the biggest model agency in Africa to help open doors for others.
