Bendel Insurance FC on Tuesday advanced to the round of 16 in the Edo FA Cup after a slim victory over their round of 32 opponents, Eagles Wings FC of Benin.
The Benin Arsenal that won their Nigeria National League season opener by three goals on Saturday scored the only goal of the match in the 90 minute of the game.
Junior Osagie scored the goal of the highly entertaining match through a strike at the dot of time.
Coach Baldwin Bazuaye, who spoke on behalf of Bendel Insurance technical crew, praised the boys’ composure all through the match.
He said the team used the match as preparation for the trip to Ibadan, against 3SC in the Match Day 2 of the bet9ja 2018 NNL fixture.
He said: “The match was not bad; we used it as part of our preparations for 3SC. We were organised all through the encounter. The match was okay.’’
His Eagles Wings counterpart, Osaro Egharevba, said his players performed well.
He said: “My boys played very well, my boys played to instructions, we played a very good match with Bendel Insurance.’’
