The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company will cut electricity supply to Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, for seven hours daily between December 13 and 15 for repairs and upgrade of facilities.
John Onyi, the company’s spokesman, announced this on Tuesday in Port Harcourt in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.
According to Onyi, the power outage will last from 10am to 5pm daily during the three-day period.
Onyi said: “PHED wishes to notify her customers that Port Harcourt metropolis will witness power outage starting from today, December 13 to December 15, 2016.
“The outage will start between 10am and 5pm on each day and thereafter electricity supply would be restored to the city.
“The planned outage is to allow the technical crews from Transmission Company of Nigeria to carry out routine maintenance of Afam Power Station.”
Onyi said the repair work, when completed, would enable the company to provide improved electricity supply to consumers in the city.
He appealed consumers to exercise patience during the period.
