Yaba College of Technology has signed a pact with the Legacy Arts Foundation to provide sustainable funding for young artists development in the institution and Nigeria at large.
The pact centred on scholarships and provision of working material for awardees through academic terms.
This will then be followed by a career launch support of “Legacy Arts Foundation Exhibition” upon completion of their programmes.
In his address at the event, the founder of the Foundation, Niyi Adenubi, disclosed that the three most successful students will compete amongst themselves and the best among them would go on a trip within Nigeria and abroad for the advancement of his profession, fully sponsored by the foundation.
Ten students of the college, Adenubi said, would be awarded with the Legacy Arts Foundation scholarships, adding that the Foundation is best focused on exploring potential collaboration in the area of boosting the quality of Yaba Tech graduates.
Dr. Adenubi expressed his optimism about the collaboration, emphasising its potential to positively impact the art community for years to come.
As part of this exciting collaboration, Adenubi stated that the Foundation will be awarding scholarships to 10 talented art students each year.
This incredible opportunity, he said, will not only provide financial support, but also recognition for their artistic achievements.
According to him: “An exhibition will be organised to showcase the exceptional work of the top three students and from this group, one outstanding artist will be chosen as the recipient of the prestigious Legacy Art Foundation Fellowship.”
The Rector of Yaba Tech, Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, in his response described the partnership as a welcome innovation which will greatly benefit the students of the College, providing them with invaluable opportunities to showcase their talents and receive support from the renowned foundation.
