A source in the Nigeria Football Federation has explained the rationale behind the decision to put off the floodlight at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja as the Black Stars had their feel of the turf ahead of the World Cup qualifying encounter against the Super Eagles.
The Eagle Online had late on Monday reported that the Black Stars team for the match were in the dark at the stadium.
They were training when the floodlight was put off.
However, a source within the NFF told The Eagle Online that the floodlight was put off as the Black Stars refused to leave the stadium after the maximum one hour training opportunity granted by the rules.
The source said: “They had the mandatory one hour training.
“And when asked to leave, they stayed back.
“The training was concluded.”
The Super Eagles and Black Stars take to the pitch today from 6pm at the Moshood Abiola Stadium.
The first leg on Friday in Kumasi ended goalless.
