One of Nigeria’s veteran journalists, Dimgba Igwe, is dead.
Igwe died on Saturday morning.
He was said to have been knocked down by a vehicle during his routine morning exercise close to his residence in Lagos.
Igwe was said to have been rushed to a private hospital where he died while surgery was being performed on him.
Igwe was the pioneer Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of fast selling Sun newspapers owned by Dr. Orji Kalu.
He was the vice-chairman of The Sun Publishing Company Limited until his death.
Before joining the Sun, Igwe had worked with the Concord titles, where he took the Saturday title to an enviable height.
The Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of Sun newspaper, Femi Adesina, confirmed the development to The Eagle Online on Saturday.
Adesina described it as a sad development.
