UN Security Council slams deadly bombing in Nigerian bus station

The 15-member UN Security Council has condemned the Monday bomb explosion in a bus station in Nigeria that killed 71 persons and injured 124 others.
Members of the Security Council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations was criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of its motivation.
They said in a press statement on Tuesday in New York: “Wherever, whenever and by whomsoever committed, and should not be associated with any religion, nationality, civilisation or ethnic group.”
The 15-member UN body reaffirmed the need to combat threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts.
“The members of the Security Council underlined the need to bring perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism to justice,” the statement said.
Ban Ki-Moon, the UN Secretary-General, had earlier expressed shock and suddenness by the attack.
Ki-Moon strongly condemned all indiscriminate killings and acts of violent extremism.
