Over 100 thugs riding on over 50 motorcycles and wielding guns and other dangerous weapons on Saturday invaded Obada Oko community in Ogun State.
Two residents of the community were attacked by the hoodlums.
A resident of the village, one Agbaje Taoheed, while narrating the incident said it was warlike.
“I have never witnessed anything like that in this area. There were about 50 motorcycles with each motorcycle carrying at least three people with many of them armed with cutlasses, broken bottles, sticks and iron rod.
“A pregnant woman on sighting these hoodlums fainted and had to be resuscitated by the villagers.”
Our correspondent also gathered that, identified as Sikiru Kayode, was attacked with matchetes, iron and sticks, while other people scampered for safety in different directions as the hoodlums descended on him.
The resident added that the hoodlums later escaped on their motorbikes when they noticed that Kayode was lifeless, thinking that he was completely dead.
He identified the leaders of the rampaging hoodlums as Spider, Ijalo, Solebo, Dudu and Waliu Ojodu.
One of the bricklayers who were working on one of the buildings in the town said that one of the invaders, Solebo, pointed a gun at him and threatened to shoot him.
Another resident of the village who pleaded anonymity said the hoodlums were suspected land grabbers, who were working for some village heads around Obada Oko.
Efforts to get the reaction of the Ogun State command Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, failed as calls to his mobile phone were not answered.
A police source at Obada Police Station, however, confirmed the incident, saying that investigation had commenced into the incident.
He also said one of those injured was brought to the station for a police report, before he was rushed to the hospital.
