INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, said the meeting was in view of the current situation in the country.
Performing the ceremony on Tuesday in Abuja, INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, expressed confidence that the new RECs would contribute to the commission’s determination to make 2019 general elections the best in the country.
Those confirmed by the Senate were Asmau Maikudi, Katsina, new appointment; Sam Olumekun, Ondo, reappointment; Riskuwa Shehu, Sokoto, new appointment; Kasim Geidam, Yobe, reappointment; Jibrin Zarewa, Kano, reappointment; Abdulganiyu Raji, Oyo, new appointment; Samuel Egwu, Kogi, new appointment; Mike Igini, Delta, reappointment.
