Inaugurating the portal, the Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Zubairu Dada, remarked that the portal would enhance diaspora participation in demographic and national planning as well as budgeting purposes at all levels of governance.

This was disclosed by the chairman/CEO of NIDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, when she paid a courtesy visit to the chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brigadier-General Muhammad Buba Marwa (rtd), in his office in Abuja.

It was in May 19, 2019, the hitherto office of Senior Special Assistant to the President on Diaspora Affairs and the occupier, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa  transmuted to Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) following the Senate approval and her  confirmation as the Chairman/CEO of the new Commission.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Femi Adesina, on Thursday, the president commended the cosmopolitan exposure of Erogbogbo, which saw him working in different regions of the country as a young man, before retiring and going into private business.

Speaking at the maiden edition of the Diaspora Quarterly Lecture Series with Ecobank as the sole banking partner which took place on Saturday, 8th May, 2021, he noted that Ecobank remains a critical bridge for Nigerians abroad, as it has made huge investments in the necessary platforms to enable them connect with home seamlessly.  The event held online and had over 2000 participants from across all the continents in attendance.

A statement by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the Head, Media and Public Relations Unit of NIDCOM, stated that the theme of the lecture is: “Mobilising Nigerians in the Diaspora for National Development.”

In a statement by the Commission’s Head of Media, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the NIDCOM boss, though deeply pained by the  death of the young Nigerian trying to save someone  else’s  life, described him as a hero, never to be forgotten.

Representing the Organisation, Chukwuemeka Anene said the donation was necessitated by the outcome of the National Migration Working Group that was set up by IOM to bring on board all the stakeholders on migration related issues.
