Zamfara Government has advised the Senator representing Zamfara Central, Senator Kabiru Marafa, to stay away efforts of state and federal governments in addressing security challenges in the state.

Marafa made the call on Friday when members of the Senate Joint Committee on Downstream Petroleum and Police Affairs paid Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State a courtesy visit in Umuahia
The senator, in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, alleged that the protesters were mobilised by Governor Abdulaziz Yari “following his inability to bend rules to impose candidates who are his cronies on the party in the state”
The two governors have visited Buhari several times over the primaries in their states
Senator Kabiru Marafa on Thursday countered the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, on the primaries for the election of candidates for next year’s general election in Zamfara State.
Marafa, who spoke with State House correspondents on Friday, said he was in the Presidential Villa to offer useful clues to President Muhammadu Buhari on way out the lingering security problem in the State.
But the Management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation claimed that N5.1 trillion subsidy was paid between 2006 and 2016 and the Federal Government was indebted to it to the tune of N170.6 billion as outstanding subsidy payments.
This followed a unanimous adoption of report of the Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) on the fuel crisis in the country, at plenary.
The Committee Chairman, Senator Kabiru Marafa, stated this on Monday in Gusau during an oversight assignment in the state on the fuel situation in the country.
Baru is expected to appear before Senator Kabiru Marafa-led committee on January 4.
Marafa, who made the allegation through a Point of Order on Senate floor, said Yari has no right to stop anybody’s confirmation because the Senate is not his rubber stamp.
