The candidate of the Social Democratic Party in the Osun State governorship election, Iyiola Omisore, has told a group he described as “faceless” to stop peddling unfounded allegations against him.

Generally, many including the candidates, their political parties, analysts and commentators seem to share the opinion that the first ballot was to some extent free, fair and fairly representative of the will of the people. It’s the second election, the rerun, that is controversial and which the opposition PDP rejected perhaps because it failed to win it and seal its initial lead. I shall return to all of that shortly.
Omisore offered the reason in Osogbo, the state capital, on Thursday during a meeting with members of his party from across the 30 local government areas of the state.
Oladeji, who was also a governorship aspirant, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Osogbo that the decision was taken by the leadership of the party and not only Iyiola Omisore, the party’s flagbearer.
Oshiomhole, while addressing newsmen on Friday in Abuja, said the people of Osun made their free choice by voting the APC candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, at the election.
Salaam made the felicitation in a statement signed by his Press Secretary, Goke Butika, in Osogbo, saying the mandate given to the Oyetola, should challenge him to give his best to the people of the state.
The declaration came after the counting of votes from the rerun held on Thursday and the tallying of the outcome with the result of the initial election on Saturday
There had been struggle for Omisore’s support by both the APC and Peoples Democratic Party considering the fact that the bulk of the votes for the rerun election are from his strongholds.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that members of both parties canvassed for votes in Osogbo, Orolu, Ife North and Ife South, where the re-run will be taking place.
The Secretary to the Government of Federation, Barr Boss Mustapha, has visited Sen Iyiola Omisore in Ile-Ife.
Pearse expressed the view in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos while reacting to advances from the APC and PDP for SDP’s support, to enable them to win the Osun re-run election on Thursday.
Omisore made this known at a news conference attended by the National Chairman of SDP, Prof. Yemi Farounbi, on Wednesday in Ile-Ife.
