According to the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, who declared the workshop open in Lagos on Wednesday, the workshop will be in two batches, with the second batch coming up in Abuja.
Partnering with the German Development Corporation (GIZ), and working closely with the German government, the initiative also involves the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment which identifies areas or communities where they can train people and enhance their skill sets to be better employed and earn a living so they can make an impact in their community.
The MoU, signed by the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Samuel Egube, and the Country Director, Nigeria and ECOWAS, GIZ, Ina Hommers, aims to provide a viable skill development programme that would empower the young people for employment opportunities and thereby enhance the sustainable economic growth of the state and the nation at large.
Horst Bauemfeind, an official of GIZ, the German National Agency for International Cooperation, made this known in Abeokuta, at the closing ceremony of the programme.
