The Super Eagles’ new jersey due to be unveiled next month ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil may have leaked.
The attire, produced by Adidas, has been unveiled by Footy Headlines at footyheadlines.com, the same website that correctly leaked the World Cup kits of some other World Cup-bound teams.
The major difference from the current Nigeria kit is the shade of green.
The new home kit has a dark green/blue colour application added to the sides of the shirt, while the collar of the kit comes in small V shape and in two colours.
The green is lighter than the current shade and is similar to what the Super Eagles had in the early 1990s.
According to Footy Headlines, the Super Eagles new home shirt is based on the new Adidas Condivo 14-kit template, which is also used for several other national teams.
The front of the new Nigeria 2014 World Cup kit features small darker green pinstripes, while the sleeves are divided in one light green and one dark green part.
The traditional Adidas three stripes on the sleeves are white, while on the back under the collar features the lettering “Nigeria”.
The V-collar features both green colours, similar to the sleeve cuffs.
The sleeves of the kit are dark green colour, with parrot green colour application.
Though the shorts and socks were not featured in leaked kit, it is expected that the home shirt will go with green shorts and socks.
The away strip may still be under wraps but it is expected to be similar in design with the home strip featuring light and dark green applications on the largely white shirt.
The Super Eagles will wear the new home strip in their opening World Cup game with Iran on June 16 next year.
The Iranians, who are designated as the home team, will wear their traditional all white outfit, thus giving Nigeria the opportunity of wearing the all green attire.
Nigeria will retain the home strip in the game against Bosnia-Herzegovina on June 21, after being designated as the home team, just as the Super Eagles will do in the last group game against Argentina.
