Newly crowned Africa champions, Super Eagles, have all to play for at the FIFA Confederations Cup, Brazil 2013, scheduled to take place in Brazil in June.
This is because the world soccer ruling body has increased the total prize money by 14 per cent, compared to the last edition in South Africa in 2009.
If the Super Eagles emerge victorious at the global event, Nigeria will pocket a staggering of $4.1m (about N655 million).
In total, prize money of $20 million will be shared among the eight participating nations.
This is apart from the considerable standing that comes with winning the Festival of Champions, which features the best sides from each continent.
The final is scheduled to hold on June 30 at the prestigious Maracana Stadium.
The runners-up will receive $3.6 million.
At the match for third place that same day in Salvador, a podium finish will not be the only thing up for grabs.
The winner of that fixture will pick up $3 million, while the team finishing fourth will go home with $2.5 million.
Teams eliminated during the group stage and finishing fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth will each receive $1.7 million.
At the 2009 edition of the FIFA Confederations Cup, the total prize money was $17.6 million, with champions Brazil picking up $3.75 million along with the coveted trophy.
Following Nigeria’s victorious outing at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, they will line-up for this year’s Festival of Champions in Brazil.
They will contest for the trophy against Spain, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Tahiti, Uruguay as well as the hosts, Brazil, in June.
