Seme Customs generates N575.6m in July

The Nigeria Customs Service, Seme Command, says it generated N575.6million as revenue in the month of July.
The command’s spokesperson, ASC Saidu Abdullahi, said that the revenue generated represented about 85 percent of the monthly target set for the command.
He said that the anti-smuggling operations unit of the command also
made 91 seizures with a Duty Paid Value of N130.9 million during the period under review.
He said that the Customs Area Controller, Mohammed Aliyu, expressed satisfaction over the revenue figure as well as the remarkable seizure of Fire Spice Gin with a 42 per cent concentrate of alcohol.
Aliyu said: “Over 2,000 cartons of gin concealed in a truck with a DPV of over N13 million were seized.”
The customs spokesman said that officers of the command were determined to secure the border against illicit trade considered harmful to the health and wellbeing of the citizens.
He further quoted Aliyu as saying that the command was committed to the World Customs Organisation and poised to conduct its assigned responsibilities with discipline.
The Customs Area Controller assured that the Joint Border Post would simplify customs procedures and increasing cooperation, collaboration, coordination and harmonious working relationship at the frontier.
