The Peoples Democratic Party Rivers State has accused the state Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and the All Progressives Congress of inducing members of the National Youth Service Corps with N5,000 each to fabricate evidence and sign affidavits and other documents to the effect that the just-concluded elections in the state were manipulated.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt, Emma Okah, the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Rivers State PDP Campaign Organisation, said the Youth Corps members are intimidated and taken to the Presidential Lodge in Government House, Port Harcourt where documents prepared by Amaechi and the APC are given to them to sign.
According to Okah, the essence of the forged affidavits and documents signed by the Youth Corps members is to present them to the Elections Petitions Tribunals as if they are credible evidence against the PDP.
The statement said: “This is not only a criminal offence, it is an abuse of office on the part of the State governor and abuse of the Youth Corps members.”
