Senator Ahmed Ogembe who has been given the party’s ticket to seek a fresh mandate in 2019, has commended the delegates for keeping faith with him, and urged his co-contestants to support his re-election bid.
Ogembe, while reacting to his victory in the primary election held in Okene on Wednesday, begged the defeated aspirants to forget the contest and work with him to improve the living standards of the constituents.
He said: “In all electoral contests, tempers often rise and nerves are frayed. But all of that should be put aside once a winner emerges.”
Ogembe said that the victory was for all the constituents, noting that all the contestants were eminently qualified to serve as senator.
He said: “The end of the primaries is only the beginning of the greater work we are called to do. We must all go to our various homes, polling units, wards and local government to canvass for votes.”
The senator said that he had empowered 1,600 women with seed capital to start their businesses, while youths were given 80 tricycles, 150 sewing machines, 65 power generators, 70 grinding machines and 100 motorcycles worth N250 million.
He added: “I have also provided boreholes with standby generators, and installed 35 units of 300KVA transformers and solar-powered street lights across the five local governments of Kogi Central Senatorial District.”
